MY Hospitals Charity is the registered NHS Charity proudly supporting Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, which provides care to over half a million people every year in their homes, in the community and across three hospital sites in Wakefield, Pontefract and Dewsbury.
The charity raise and allocate funds to projects that significantly elevate the physical and emotional wellbeing of patients and staff, and improve facilities and services across the Trust.
At the heart of our decision-making are the communities we serve. Over half a million people live in Wakefield and North Kirklees. We want to achieve better health equality for local people. According to the 2019 English Indices of Deprivation, there is a disproportionately high number of incidence of lung cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes among our residents.
Our aim is to help fund cutting-edge technology, facilities and health services that would not otherwise be paid for by the NHS.
In the last year, MY Hospitals Charity has distributed around £500,000 to more than 25 projects across MYHT including purchasing specialist endocrinology chairs, creating a baby bereavement suite for grieving parents and arranging visits from from friendly therapy huskies.
